Conducting

Camila Pérez Lacha is an Argentinian choral and orchestral conductor based in Australia, with experience leading ensembles across community, youth, university, and independent artistic settings in Argentina and Australia.

Since 2019, she has been the founder and artistic director of Anthorium Vocal, an award-winning choral project dedicated to the performance and promotion of music by women composers. Under her direction, the ensemble has received national awards and cultural grants, premiered new works, and recorded two albums, including one featuring original choral music. Her work with Anthorium Vocal reflects her commitment to artistic excellence, innovative programming, and expanding the representation of women composers in choral repertoire.

Her conducting experience also includes serving as assistant conductor of the Youth Choir of the National University of La Plata (UNLP), assisting in performances of Ein Deutsches Requiem with Música Quántica, and collaborating with Fiat Ars, an independent opera ensemble. She has also founded and directed institutional choirs, working with singers of diverse backgrounds and levels of experience.

Now based in Sydney, Camila conducts Northside Community Choir in Crows Nest and The Social Choir in Alexandria. She has also worked as a relief conductor for The Social Choir in Manly and is preparing and conducting the choir for Manly Carols, bringing together community singers and musicians for a festive live performance.

Her conducting practice combines detailed musical preparation, expressive interpretation, vocal health and awareness, and the development of a cohesive ensemble sound. She is passionate about creating engaging and inclusive rehearsal environments that encourage musical growth while maintaining high artistic standards, and about bringing diverse repertoire to life through collaborative music-making.
